WHY WILDERNESS?

Fantastic music - last year’s awesome lineup had the Charity Concierge team buzzing. The Chemical Brothers and Sugababes? Yes please. There’s music for and from a diverse background of people and cultures, and we’re here for it.

There’s something for everyone - Wilderness is a boutique festival nestled in the gorgeous Cornbury Park and works hard to provide a range of activities suitable for all ages and types. There’s theatre, art, delicious feasting, talks & debates, family activities like horse-riding and plenty of outdoor activities such as wild medicine walks and the faraway fete.

A world of wellness at your fingertips. Wilderness has everything you could possibly need to relax after your volunteer shift or a long night dancing to Fatboy Slim. There’s aerial yoga and forest bathing, the lakeside spa and SUP yoga, made-to-order poetry and wild runs. Wilderness 2019 broke the world spooning record, and we’re ready for that kind of heart & soul connection.

VOLUNTEERING AT WILDERNESS

Hailed by organisers as a festival for “enlightening participation and luxurious experiences”, Wilderness Festival has been running for over a decade at Cornbury Park, Oxfordshire.

See below the role options available at Wilderness.

  • General services concierges are the closest to the action throughout the festival! Provide drinks services across bars and main stages whilst soaking up the festival atmosphere. You’ll also be lending a helping hand to new campers pitching their tents when they arrive.

You'll need to arrive the Wednesday afternoon before the festival for the mandatory briefing. The exact shifts will be confirmed closer to the time, but usually you'll have three 7 or 8 hour shifts with a full day-off over the weekend. Shifts do not finish later than 9pm.

  • As part of the Buggy Ground Crew you will be working in teams to manage the logistics of our festival taxi service. It will be your job to ensure a smooth taxi operation throughout the festival!

You'll need to be onsite the Wednesday afternoon before the festival for a briefing. You'll have three 7 hour shifts, with a full day off over the main festival and will finish on Monday afternoon.

  • As a Team Leader, you’ll be responsible for a team of 10 - 15 concierges, making sure they know what they are doing and how they can be awesome Concierges. In particular, you’ll need to ensure that your team are present and on time and that they’re aware of their role (you can always ask core management for help). You’ll also need to motivate your team and keep their spirits high!

You will be working either in General Service or with Buggy Service.

You'll need to be onsite the Wednesday afternoon before the festival for a briefing. You'll have three 7* hour shifts, with a full day off over the main festival and will finish on Monday afternoon.

*you may need to attend shifts 30 minutes early to prep and support the team.

  • Help overloaded festival-goers get to their camping spots with ease by becoming a Charity Concierge buggy driver this summer! You will be picking up and dropping off guests throughout the festival and so a UK Driving License is required.

You'll need to be onsite by 12pm on the Wednesday afternoon before the festival for a briefing and to drive around the different routes.

You'll have three 7 hour shifts, with a full day off over the main festival and finishing on Monday afternoon. If you aren't able to stay until the Monday evening but you're keen to drive a buggy, get in touch with hello@charityconcierge.org.

  • Help Child.org run our family hubs at Wilderness festival; a calm space for baby changing and breast-feeding.

As a maternal health charity, we are passionate about ensuring that these spaces remain safe, clean and relaxed. It’ll be your job to make sure that this is the case - answering any questions, offering help where necessary and sharing more about our charity.

If you’re passionate about Child.org and what we do, this is the one for you! Plus, these huts will be situated in the main arena, so seriously close to the action.

This role is front-facing and about creating a safe space for parents. We will provide some safeguarding training.

Thanks for being so friendly and welcoming! I had an amazing time and met loads of lovely, brilliant people!
— Matt, concierge volunteer 2021
My ears are ringing, my nails are filthy and I’ve forgotten what buildings look like but it was all entirely worth it - thanks for the great weekend!
— Izzy, concierge volunteer 2021

The best concierges are friendly, helpful and enthusiastic. They work hard as well as play hard and are willing to approach people to offer the service, and chat to them about the wonderful work that Child.org does.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

  • You will be required to pay a fully refundable deposit of £80 when you register. This secures your space before the festival and protects us against people who want the free ticket but aren't planning to do the work.

  • If you cancel within 3 weeks before the festival without a valid reason (please see our Terms & Conditions) then we are under no obligation to return your deposit. The same applies if you fail to attend all of your shifts without a good reason.

  • We will provide you with your Concierge t-shirt, however we ask that you bring your own black trousers/skirts/leggings or other variation of black bottom-half attire to go with this.

  • Concierges will be serving alcohol at the events, therefore you must be over the age of 18 on the starting date of the event.

  • All Concierges will be expected to read and comply with our Volunteer Code of Conduct.
